Network marketers in Network Marketing business face a number of problems. The two major problems are:

1) It only takes a short time for them to run out of prospects
2) Because a number of prospects haven’t asked for what you have to offer, the result is a lack of quality in prospects and they are not targeted.

However, both these challenges can be easily solved by learning how to market your product to the right people. then you will have higher conversions to sales and much higher profits.

One of the best places to find prospective clients is the internet. It offers a variety of ways to market your business. Mediums that do not use the internet include TV, radios, flyers, and newspapers. These are very expensive because you’re targetting everyone who’s watching or listening to a particular show or reading a newspaper.

Online you can market yourself by-

Getting organic searches, Pay Per Click marketing, Video marketing, Social media marketing, Article marketing,
Forum marketing, Blogs, banners, text links, Ezine marketing, CPA networks and Affiliate marketing.

Developing these skills will get you more leads than just informing people of your business opportunity. You will definitely attract more people.

People usually want to become your business partner for 2 reasons:
1) Because you have offered them valuable information, they see that you are willing to help them be successful.
OR
2) Because of your marketing techniques and marketing knowledge and coaching that you can provide them.

People will hardly ever choose to join your team just because of your company products nor will they join you for your company’s sake, they can join whatever company they please. When people become your business partner, it’s usually because they believe you can help them become successful. The reason people are attracted to you is because you are a leader and you can educate people on how to market.

So you might want to focus on developing your leadership and marketing skills. perfecting those two skills will place you in a winning position. You will be able to attract a huge amount of business. Master these four fundamental steps to network marketing and be all but guaranteed both incredible wealth and great success. Fail to understand the importance of but one, and condemn your business to flounder and ultimately follow the path of so many eager, yet unprepared network marketing hopefuls.

You may be thinking at this point, only four secrets to making millions and millions of dollars? Let’s hear it then. Actually, there is really only one. Time and time again, success story after success story; all have this one truth in common. So, this particular gem I’ll save for last.

If network marketing is all about networking and of course marketing, why do so many network marketers continue to struggle to realize the infinite networking and lead generating potential of the internet? Simply put, it’s being done all wrong. How’s that?

Network marketing (also known as “Multi-Level-Marketing” or MLM) depends most heavily on…

- recruiting / lead generation / relationship-building

- sales conversion

- ongoing consumption

- replicating yourself through down line motivation and training

If your network marketing business fails to recognize the importance and any one of these fundamental elements then quite simply, you won’t have much of a business at all.

Everything starts with recruiting and lead generation. No leads means no sales. No sales means no down line. No down line means… I’m sure you get the idea here. The entire process is built upon the foundation of recruiting and relationship-building with the express intent of maximizing product consumption and the success of your down line. Your bottom line is this. If you can’t replicate your success within your down line you ultimately fail to realize the true income generating potential of network marketing.

That being said, I’ll take this opportunity to summarize my own cautionary tale for those who are new to network marketing or who are just now thinking of taking the plunge. For those who have been around the block a time or two please bear with me. Much of my story may undoubtedly sound very much like your own.

When I first made the decision to start my network marketing business, I believed that with a great product and an effective marketing system, enough hard work would guarantee me success. I had the right attitude, but the wrong impression of what made this business tick. I expected to have a great deal to learn and I was eager to do so. I attended trainings, bought books, studied sales copy, purchased leads, ran ad campaigns, the whole routine.

I managed to generate a fair number of leads, and only a few conversions. For me that was fine. I assumed that if x amount of traffic equaled y amount of conversions, all I needed to do was… You guessed it, drive more traffic. So, here I am grinding like a mad man at driving traffic, and losing all but my shirt in the process. That’s when it dawned on me. Sure things are a bit slow going, but if my real return on my investment comes with creating a successful down line… How many members of my down line can I honestly say would be willing to put in this much time, effort, and yes money, for the same results. Not a single one…

I’ll say this once more just to be absolutely clear. If you can’t easily and effectively replicate a reasonable measure of success in your network marketing down line, then you are in effect spinning your wheels without going much of anywhere. If you assume that replicated content and replicated sites are the same thing as replicated success, you may want to think again.

Think of your business like a car and the content you provide your potential prospects as the wheels. If you expect to move your business you need the content you provide about your business to stand out. You need wheels that give your business traction. That traction comes in the form of having a unique voice and providing your prospects unique content about your business.

Well that about says it… Once you do your pre-selling and your marketing to generate your leads make sure you can provide good quality content to convert those leads into sales. Create an effective method to transfer some form of ownership to your down line so that they can achieve their own unique voice and replicate your success for themselves.

Oh and as for my million dollar secret… So, what is the secret that creates truly successful businesses, not to mention truly wealthy people? Here it is…

Do what you love… If you can find a way to turn your passion, your interest, even your favorite hobby into your business, then you will be in a much better position to achieve true success. Turning an opportunity to make money into something you love is infinitely more difficult that turning something you love into an opportunity to make money.

For those of you who are new to the internet, or at least to the concept of making money on the internet, you will find that network marketing on the internet is not necessarily the same as what you may think from personal knowledge. Although it may involve the concept of recruiting new people to join your business network (network-based), it can also involve becoming an affiliate member of an established network (affiliate-based).

The key word here is “internet” marketing, thus meaning that the business you work with will be promoted and built using the power and global reach of the internet. As you know, the internet is the biggest source of advertising that exists in the 21st century. Business owners who take advantage of all of its advertising potential soon begin living a comfortable lifestyle.

For many people, the internet has made the difference between being self-sufficient or depending upon others for income. Many people unable to work a regular job due to family obligations or health issues are now able to contribute to the family income because of the abundance of home based internet business opportunities.

As mentioned earlier, internet marketing  can be either network-based, affiliate-based, or a combination of the two. If the business is network-based, you need to recruit new people to come into the network, becoming part of your downline.    Your income comes from a portion of the sales generated by you and your downline. The best part about network marketing is the residual income you can generate over time – income that keeps coming even after your business building efforts have stopped.  

With an affiliate-based program, you have a website with the products you are promoting for the organization with which you are affiliated. You receive either a flat fee or percentage for every sale that you generate from your website. This is more like having a normal job – if you stop working and making sales, your income stops.

When you choose an affiliation, be careful that you know exactly what you can expect, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

It’s important to be able to distinguish the scams from the real programs, and the best way to do that is in the way they advertise. The easiest way to notice a scam is if there is a fee to join. That should automatically send up a red flag because most reputable affiliate programs do not charge any fees to get started.

Both network marketing and affiliate marketing are very realistic options for you to begin building an internet based home business. Doing both is a good idea as the affiliate marketing business has the potential of providing immediate income, while the network marketing business you choose will eventually provide long term residual income for you and your family.

I am all in favor of automating as much of our internet businesses as possible. That to me is one of the big advantages of having an internet business. You can accomplish so much more than you used to be able to do. However when it comes to the internet and network marketing this is usually not going to be enough. Here’s why!

Network marketing is a people business. Although email is a great way to communicate it still does not provide the quality of interaction you can get by talking on the phone. Granted because of the cost you may not want to follow-up by phone everywhere in the world, but at least call the prospects in your own country if you want your business to grow.

Farm out leads in other countries to your good distributors. You could use those as a contest to reward the people in your downline for their efforts and therefore you are not wasting leads from countries you do not want to call.

The internet is perfect for lead generation. Having a system in place to capture names and email addresses is great. Then follow up with them by autoresponder to drip information about yourself and your company to educate your prospect. A series of short messages about having a home business in general as opposed to directly promoting your opportunity is the best way to do this

The other thing to include in your lead capture form is a place for their phone number. The people who fill this out for you want to be called and they are telling you they are a better prospect and worthy of you time. Give them a quick call to find out how you can help them.

Do both of you a favor and give them a quick call. Introduce yourself, thank them for filling out the form, and ask them if they have any questions. Put all of the emphasis on them and not you or your business. People love to talk about themselves and you will find yourself recruiting more new distributors if you will just do this.

So to summarize when it comes to the internet and network marketing using the telephone is still an important part of the whole process. Network marketing is still a people business. That’s what networking is all about. It’s what makes this business fun. Dealing with people is more effective by phone than email. Use the internet to sort and then pick up the phone and watch your recruiting numbers go way up.

One of the ways you can influence the growth of your internet business is through network marketing and having input onto which websites your advertising appears can have an impact. Many companies use a shotgun approach to affiliate marketing in that they allow any website that signs up as an affiliate to post their advertising, playing the odds of their ad being seen. They believe that the more places it is posted, the better chance it has of being seen.

While there is a large degree of truth in that theory, there may be a few places where you do not want your ad to appear. Since affiliated marketing ads do not cost you much until they show results, having them appear in the wrong neighborhood could hurt your credibility. With most affiliate marketing companies you have the final decision on whether or not you want your business name on an affiliate site. Instead of giving the go ahead to any and all sites that apply, it may be better for you to give final approval before accepting a potential affiliate.

Many internet businesses seeking affiliates demand a high traffic count, which in many ways makes sense but you do not want to make the sites traffic stats the main criteria for accepting them as an affiliate. Do not overlook the niche businesses that may not get a lot of traffic but the traffic they do get is specifically targeted to your business offering. For example, your offering of business development software will probably sell better on a site geared to new business owners that receives a mere 1,000 hits per day as opposed to a site selling cookie recipes that has 100,000 hits a day.

It is right to be particular but do so in the right way. Sites with adult oriented entertainment, which typically show high traffic counts, may not be an ideal base from which to draw customers for your business development software business. Some of these sites have names that may not indicate the true nature of their business and unless you research each site that requests affiliate status your ad could end up on a site you would not want your mother to visit.

In the old days of advertising many businesses made the mistake of not being particular where there ads were seen, believing that as long as even a small percentage of those receiving their message may show an interest, it is worth the expense. It was not too long that someone had the idea to send the information only to specific people who might care. When returns on the advertising investment began to explode into sales, businesses embraced the notion of direct, targeted marketing. Internet and network marketing is similar, in that you want your message to be seen by those who are interested in your offering.

ClickBank is one of the bigger providers of affiliate memberships, and they often pay as much as $4 for each sale. It is up to you to decide if you want someone who will provide a website for you to store the products or if you are content to promote your own website and include banners or links to the sites where you hold affiliate memberships.
